Responsible Business

The foundation of our responsible business approach is underpinned by the philosophy, ‘being a responsible business is not about the way we spend our profits, it is about the way we make our profits'

Our strategy is focussed on the delivery our sustainability commitments in terms of our social, economic and environmental performance, along with our wider business responsibilities and governance. As such, responsible business is an integral part of the way we work and robustly embedded in everything we deliver.

Responsible Business is ultimately governed by our Chief Executive, Scott Wardrop, and his Directors. An established Responsible Business Committee, attended by representatives from all businesses within Eurovia UK, also meets regularly to discuss how well the Be Responsible Strategy is being implemented and to share best practice.

We have designated Corporate Responsibility (CR) Champions to manage and record their division’s activities and liaise with the local community. Alongside their day job, they take the lead on planning, implementing and recording responsible business activities within each business area, feeding back to the Responsible Business Committee meetings. Line managers and the Group Sustainability Advisor support the CR champions in developing plans and communicating information to their designated business areas. Dissemination information is a vital aspect of the champions’ role. Their communications via meetings, noticeboards and emails are supplemented by information about responsible business targets, events and achievements published in Insight, our staff magazine.

Sustainability is also supported throughout our business by the Group Sustainability Committee. Representatives from a selection of businesses and job roles site on the committee to support innovations and disseminate developments throughout the group.
